Story Time

So I play basketball a couple times a week with some awesome ladies in my stake. Lots of us have young kids who we let play on the stage and run the borders of the gym. Of course there are little accidents now and then.. they are kids after all.. and us women aren't exactly playing no touch, slow basketball. I my self have lost some skin and received a few bruises and blisters. But Monday was the perfect storm.
We had a few more kids since school was out and when I got to the church Kennedy was crying instead of falling asleep. I wrapped her up and rocked her back to sleep. I put her back in her carseat and put the cover over top. I've been putting her in the corner in front of the curtain on the stage for the past four months and this time wasn't any different. Have you guessed where this is going yet?
Nearly an hour later we hear crying and we all look to the stage to see which child was hurt. And at first I couldn't find the source. Then I saw the little yellow blanket moving on the floor. I'm afraid I cussed out loud as I ran over to pick my sweet little baby off the gym floor. I was living a nightmare. I wish I had seen it happen. I looked her over and over looking for a bump or some sign of injury. All I found was a tiny bit of blood on her lip. I called Mitch and he asked our friend to come help give her a blessing. She was acting like normal, like nothing happened. Until I tried to feed her. She would latch on and suck but cry as soon as she swallowed. So we took her in to get checked out. Her Dr. looked her over and showed us some bruising in her mouth and by then we noticed a tiny bruise forming on her chin. But that was it! I wouldn't be surprised to learn someday that an angel saved our sweet little girl. I'll be forever grateful. And don't worry she won't be going back on that stage for a long time.. If ever.

More Of The Same

A week and a half ago Kenny and I made a last min trip to my Moms house in Idaho. :) Thank goodness for skymiles = one free ticket! The only downside was Tess and Mitch had to stay home. I've never been away from Tessa for that long! It was kinda hard. But it was a special trip. My Sister had her baby and I was able to meet and hold her when she was all but 6 hours old! If you didn't already know newborns are my all time favorite!

We were able to go to not one but two of my little sisters basketball games! :) She's such a baller! I'm so proud of her! As always it was wonderful seeing and spending time with family!

Like most days.. I took a picture of Kenny that I love! And realized she is wearing the same shirt that Tess wore in one of my favorite pictures of her. But of course Kennedy is 4 months and Tessa was 9 months! Which reminds me, we had an appointment last week Kennedy is 23 1/2 in and 13 lbs! (She's grown half an inch since November!) And Tessa is 33 in and 26 lbs. On the scales it doesn't really show but they sure are getting big!

a BIG week and a half

As a result of recent (ish) events I decided that Tessa needed to get out of diapers so we could cut the cost. I decided Wednesday night when putting her to bed and went to the store the next morning and bought some pull-ups and big girl undies. Since I did it on a whim with near to no planning I was really frustrated by Thursday night when she had had a few accidents during the day. But in the past week we've had a total of 3 accidents and she even woke up dry one morning! :) Its been super easy! That waiting a year from the first time she went on the toilet really paid off.

The other Big milestone happened on Saturday. I laid Kennedy on her little play mat while I hurried and got Tessa out of the tub. I left the room pulled the plug and wrapped Tessa in a towel. So in less than two minuets Kennedy went from laying on her back to laying on her stomach with her face where her feet and previously been. No more laying on elevated surfaces! I can't believe she's already 4 months old!!

Its not the best picture of the two of them.. but it shows how big Kennedy can look next to her big sister! Any guesses on how long it'll take to pass up big sister?

By the way, my husband fixed my blog for me.  He is a genius, and I am incredibly lucky to have him. Wow!

Christmas 2012

Four years ago I made the decision to be sealed to a wonderful man for time and all eternity. Said man loves me so much he gave me the one thing I desperately wanted for Christmas. :) So we drove 16 hours to see my family! I've missed them so much. Needless to say it was a wonderful trip. Thanks Sweetie!

Touched this Christmas

It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas! It took a while but believe it or not it's cold here in Southern California! Not negative freezing cold like I grew up with. But it's been in the 50's during the day and 40's and 30's at night. BRR! And like that wasn't enough to get me in the Christmas spirit we have been blessed left and right this month. :') I have to share my favorite story. We were out shopping last week and stopped at the pharmacy. We lost our insurance so we wanted to find out how much my prescription was going to cost. The pharmacist told us how much and we knew it was a bit more than we felt comfortable paying and told her we would let them know if we would need it filled or not. We made our way to the registers in the front of the store and right before it was our turn to check out some stranger who must have seen and over heard our conversation at the pharmacy placed some cash in Mitch's palm told him to go get my prescription, Merry Christmas, and walked away before either of us had a chance to respond. I was blown away by her kindness! As well as the other small and big acts of kindness from others. :) I have truly felt that sweet spirit of the season and reminded of the reason for the season. Thank you stranger! Thanks to those who have sent love and prayers our way. And thank you for the Christmas gifts. It's already been a Christmas to remember! Merry Christmas!
Sorry about the crazy big pictures.. I'm technically challenged.. And/or I think there is something wrong with this blogger..

Thanksgiving

We took a really fun Thanksgiving trip to Mitch's Grandparents house. I guess I'm one of those wired people that LOVE my in-laws as well as the extended family. Its something I'm especially thankful for! Well we spent a few days with the crew since its a bit of a drive and we weren't really looking forward to the drive home. Tessa made friends with Mitch's youngest cousin. They were pretty darn cute playing together.. most the time. :p We went on a couple walks and saw some BEAUTIFUL fall leaves! Don't really get those where we are and I miss it! We went to a movie on Black Friday.. which is a bit more relaxing than shopping. We might have to make that a tradition.. though I do like shopping and love sales. We'll see.

Tessa Update:
This girl is full of energy and sure loves her Daddy. She loves going to the park, playing with her friends and of course watching her "shows"! I love how excited she gets over Everything! I feel like she is getting over the adjusting to a newborn and terrible twos all at once.. Knock on wood. But seriously she is such a sweet heart. :)

Kennedy Update:
Sweet thing is 11 weeks old tomorrow! She is a BIG talker. She smiles and coos almost instantly when she wakes up. And then whenever she isn't tired or hungry. She's such a happy girl. :) She is rolling onto her side consistently now and she is constantly picking up her head/ shoulders wanting to sit up and see everything. :) LOVE HER!
